Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026

By accessing or using HandyCompress ("the Service") you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

HandyCompress provides browser-based file utilities (compression, conversion, metadata editing, and similar). All file processing happens locally in your browser; no files are uploaded to or stored on our servers. The Service is provided free of charge.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to process content that:

  • Is illegal in your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of any person you share resulting files with;
  • Infringes the intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of any third party;
  • Contains malware, exploits, or material intended to harm others;
  • Constitutes child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or similar prohibited content.

You also agree not to attempt to disrupt the Service, reverse-engineer it for malicious purposes, or use it in a manner that violates applicable law.

3. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific result will be achieved.

You are solely responsible for verifying the integrity of any output and for keeping backup copies of important files.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HandyCompress and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from or related to your use of the Service. In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or liabilities, the foregoing limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and trademarks, is the property of its operators or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You retain all rights in the files you process — we acquire no rights in them, because we never receive them.

6. Ads

The Service may display advertising provided by third-party networks. Such advertising is governed by the terms of those networks, which you should review separately. We do not endorse advertised products or services.

7. Changes

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec, Canada.
